Happy Pride

Happy Pride Month, everyone. This year has proven to be a very difficult one. Where our world leaders continue to fail us, and at least in the United States, we are forced again to make a choice between the lesser of two evils, and at this point, I’m not sure there is a lesser. But I think right now, for my own mental health, I need to think about how far we’ve come. There are openly queer people in government, a trans person in a star wars show, and openly gay cartoon characters on screen.

It's not enough, and I am not saying we should accept slow progress, but right now, I need to count our wins. Even if they are being threatened every day, they can’t take my memories.

What keeps my spirits up is that yesterday, my mother gave me a small rainbow planter for this month. Counting your wins, even if they’re small, can really help.

I’m sticking with the schedule for next week. I might increase my work later on, but that’s for then now. I’m just happy I have my rainbow.
